What can I do to help? Minimize

As an individual you may wonder what you can do to help Keep Our Teams Here.

  1. Sign up for our Action Alerts list:  Click on "Action Alerts" and sign up for our email list.  As this issue unfolds we will contact you via email and let you know what is happening.
  2. Call your elected officials: Call 1-800-562-6000 to leave a message for your elected officials.  Your message will be sent to all the members who represent your district so they know that the people want them to keep the teams here.
  3. Letters to the editor: Send letters to the editors of the major newspapers (links below).
  4. Spread the word: Tell your friends to come here and do these things as well.
  5. Volunteer to help: If you can spare an hour or two a week we can use your help.  Email Denise and let her know you would like to help. If you can't spare any time please click on donate above. Every dollar helps.

   Tips for writers Minimize

1. Be brief. Short letters are best. Just because they have a 250-word limit doesn't mean you need 250 words to make your point. Short letters are more effective - and more likely to get read. All letters are subject to editing for length and clarity.

3. Address your comments to the newspaper and its readers - not to a third party. They won't run copies of letters sent to other people.

4. Be civil. Sarcasm can be effective, but don't overdo it. You can criticize, but avoid highly personal attacks.

5. Keep trying.  They receive far more letters than they have room to publish. If your letter isn't published, try again.

6. Use your own name or two initials and your last name. Include contact information.  They will not be published but they may need to talk to you about your letter. No anonymous letters or "pen names" can be used.
